Western civilization owes its cultural inheritance to the myth of Troy and nothing else. This story, which was deemed to have happened in 1180 BC, was again written in the collective memory of humanity by an Anatolian poet. The story written down by İzmir-born Homer in his immortal books of the Iliad and the Odyssey, had taken its place among the most known compositions of world. As so, it has an important place alongside all sacred books, and was turned into a mysterious adventure which fascinated the writers of history of all civilizations throughout the ages.
The figure who wrote the final chapter on this curiosity and its history of three thousand years, and who brought Troy on to the stage of history again thus making myth a reality was the German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann in the 1860s. What Schliemann taught us is that : “The voice coming out of the ruins is the voice of our own history”. The ones who do not hear the voices of the history cannot hear the voice of the future. The Fire of Anatolia Dance Group is giving life to myth of Troy and welcoming this immortal composition of history of art after three thousand years in its homeland. The mysterious city which embellished the dreams of world leaders across the ages, from the Hittite King Tuthalia to Alexander the Great and Caesar of the Roman Empire, from the Persian King Xerxes to Constantine of the Byzantine Empire, from Sultan Mehmet, the Conqueror to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk…. The scream rising from the ruins of Troy and the revival of a mystical dream of 3000 years…
From its Motherland to all of humankind. Time in Troy, a place in Troy, love and infinity in Troy.
A feverish work carried on under the shadow of lost myth, a history and musical revolt against a deep history.
