IstanCool Festival Opens to Turkey and the World
IST. Festival – Istancool, is an annual high-profile International Arts & Culture Festival that is to take place for the fourth time in 2014 between June 13-15 in Istanbul.
In the course of three days, the admission-free festival offers the public audience the unique opportunity to attend open panels and talks, screenings, workshops, exhibitions while giving them the chance to experience artistic collaborations and performances based on the past, current and future topics in arts and culture.
Attended by writers, directors, actors, filmmakers, musicians, artists, designers and performers, the festival brings together creative minds that share a compassion that leads to a global vocabulary of emotions.
In 2014 the IST. Festival introduces the theme of “Intercultural Dialogues in Arts & Culture” to celebrate a “cultural mosaic” – a mix of creative people of different geographical roots, languages and cultures that co-exist within today’s global society. Therefore, the 2014 edition of the festival aims to bring together artists that are and have been experimenting with the notions of heritage and culture in an increasingly interdependent and globalized world in and outside of their geographical boundaries, by retaining their diversity and influencing the world with their cultural ethnicities.
Discussions and collaborations between multicultural artists will bring out their distinctive voices to provide public awareness and a deeper understanding of their identities that have impact on their art and the world through their art. The cultural communications will lead to a flowering of creativity and to a cross-cultural language that can be defined as interculturalism.
The attending audience will get the chance to encounter international artists and celebrate their culture in Istanbul – a city that has been a cross point of different cultures for many centuries.
A city where the East meets the West.
